In Cooperation with LMU, we investigated whether the type of trigger influences how teams adapt to new situations. We were pleased that Eleni Georganta (Chair of Economic and Organisational Psychology, LMU Munich) presented our results at Annual SIOP conference in Washington:
When the type of trigger allowed the team structure to remain intact, teams engaged in a more effective team adaptation process in comparison to when the type of trigger made a change of team structure necessary. Further, a better performed team adaptation process led to better team creativity but not to a better completion of the actual team task. We suggest, that teams in new situation rather focus on team adaptation processes and therefore disregard their actual tasks.
