FührMINT

The FührMINT project (“MINT”: German equivalent of the STEM disciplines, including science, technology, engineering, and mathematics) investigated success factors for leaders in STEM academia, and particularly how universities can attract, select, and promote female talents with high potential for academic leadership positions. The project aimed to uncover how requirements differ across career stages, how gender stereotypes and differences influence recruitment and career advancement to leadership positions, and which leadership styles are most effective for male versus female academic leaders. Based on our findings, we developed recommendations for organizations about how to recruit and promote researchers with the highest potential, and effectively counteract gender biases in recruitment and promotion processes.
