Strategic and International Management

| Description: | Management faces challenges of increased competition, digitization, and (anti-) globalization forces, to name just a few. The course ‘Strategic and International Management’ discusses such management challenges and how to cope with them. In particular, this course provides knowledge on fundamentals of management, stakeholder management, strategic decision making and performance management, as well as the formulation and implementation of strategies. The international dimension of management will play an important role throughout the course. At the end of the module, an exam will take place. It will be a closed-book examination containing multiple single-choice questions. |

Strategies in MNEs
(Combined lecture & tutorial, 4 SWS/6 ECTS, MSc TUM MMT, MSc TUM MiM, MSc TUM MCS)
| Description: | ‘Strategies in MNEs’ discusses corporate strategy issues for multinational, multidivisional corporations. We first look at the core strategy problem and strategy science. From there we investigate the firm as an actor and its intention. Based on this we discuss portfolio management, diversification, internationalization, growth programs, and M&A as a growth mode. At the end of the module, an exam will take place. It will be a closed-book written examination (60 minutes) with short-answer and essay questions. |

Master Thesis Seminar
(Seminar, for students currently writing their Master thesis at the chair of Strategic and International Management)
| Description: | This course covers key issues that come across when writing a scientific paper, especially a final thesis. This includes identification of research needs, planning of the research approach, elaboration as well as presentation of research results. Students will once present the status of their Master thesis and are encouraged to provide their fellow students with feedback. |
