Our recent publication The power of generative marketing has gained widespread attention. It is now the International Journal of Research in Marketing’s (IJRM) most downloaded article over the past 90 days.
The paper, authored by Jochen Hartmann (TUM), Yannick Exner (TUM), and Samuel Domdey, examines generative AI for marketing and digital advertising. Our findings demonstrate that AI-generated marketing imagery can surpass human-made visuals in quality, realism, and advertising effectiveness across comprehensive evaluations involving over 250,000 human ratings and 173,000 real-world impressions, revealing both substantial cost efficiencies and performance improvements in click-through rates. The article’s high access rate reflects the growing interest in generative AI applications for digital marketing, visual content creation, and automated advertising systems.
To facilitate further research in this rapidly evolving field, we've made our entire dataset of AI-generated marketing images freely available through GenImageNet on OSF, enabling researchers and practitioners to explore the intersection of artificial intelligence and marketing effectiveness.
