NEW: Project Study Team wanted!
Success factors of virtual innovation teams

in cooperation with

orange hills

Project Start: January 2013

Background
Team reflexivity has been shown to enhance team performance, espescially for innovative tasks. However, reflection does not happen automatically and it is often biased. We argue that team reflection should be supported to be effective (Knipfer et al., 2011; Prilla, Knipfer et al., 2011).

Aim

You will identify success factors for teams working with Rapid Modeller, a software designed for virtual innovation teams (see www.orangehills.de), on innovation projects. You will examine logfiles and gather interview data to identify the interaction patterns that differentiate successful teams from less successful teams (with regard to final performance). Your work will be the basis for team reflection interventions - we will give regular feedback on relevant interaction aspects to the teams to enhance team work in the future.

Task
Your project study includes a thourough literature review on virtual teamwork, team reflection and on the state of the art with regard to the question which interaction patterns characterize successful (virtual) teams. You will examine the logfile data from a field study and conduct qualitative interviews to further investigate differences between successful and less successful teams. You will develop recommendations which factors teams should receive feedback on to enhance team work.

Requirements
You should have first (theoretical) knowledge on empirical research methods. A vital interest in virtual teams and innovation teams is required for this project study.

Contact
This project study will be supervised by Dr. Kristin Knipfer and Dipl.-Kfm Emanuel Schreiner / Chair for Research and Science Management.
