Nuno Busch received the Best Poster Award (Second Runner Up) at the TUM School of Management Research Fest 2024. In the annual poster competition, current research projects of the TUM School of Management are presented. From over 30 submissions, TUM Management Alumni e.V. honors the three most successful posters with highly endowed prizes of between EUR 500 and EUR 2000.
In his research project, Nuno shows that the way in which people learn about the probabilities of their decision options' possible outcomes can have an influence on the subjective weighting of gains and losses (so-called loss aversion). In situations where no summary statistics about the decision options and their payoff characteristics are available, people instead have to rely on experience-based information when making their decision. In such situations, they tend to overweight losses - an irrational phenomenon whose avoidance could have relevant societal implications for various decision-making contexts.
Nuno recently presented this research project also at two international conferences in New York City: this year's Annual Meeting of the Psychonomic Society, and the Annual Meeting of the Society for Judgment and Decision Making (see article here).
