Confidence Is Influenced by Evidence Accumulation Time in Dynamical Decision Models by Sebastian Hellmann, Michael Zehetleitner, and Manuel Rausch publsihed in the journal Computational Brain & Behavior (Full text available)

In this article, we examine the influence of decision time on confidence, which is our belief that a decision was correct. In many situations, we observe that decisions made quickly are often ones where we feel more certain they are right. We use dynamical decision models based on the drift diffusion model to demonstrate two key points: first, that it is optimal to use decision time as information for our confidence, and second, that people do indeed make use of this information in perceptual decisions.
