The TeaP is a renowned annual international research conference focusing on experimental psychology (e.g. cognitive, social, developmental and biological psychology) and related disciplines. This year's TeaP 2025 took place from March 9 to 12 at Goethe University Frankfurt.
On Monday morning, our Behavioral Research Methods team kicked off the conference with a symposium on “Cognitive processes in decisions from experience” organized by Thorsten Pachur, in which Nuno Busch presented new findings from his project on loss aversion in risky choice. In a meta-analysis, Nuno is currently using an integrative computational modeling approach to investigate differences between description-based and experience-based decisions with regard to the subjective weighting of losses.
On Monday evening, Thorsten Pachur also presented the results of a new study during a talk series on the topic of “Modelling decision making”. In it, he examines people's willingness to make additional efforts to better manage risks. In the evening, the participants of both events met and exchanged research ideas over dinner.
On Tuesday, Linus Hof presented his current work on the interplay of information search and information processing in experience-based decisions as part of the poster session. The work shows that people search adaptively in decisions from experience and organize their information search in a way that faciliates information processing and decision making. For his work, which he conducted together with his Master's student Julian Konstantin Schäfer, Linus was awarded the 'TeaP Selected Poster Award' (2nd place). The award is presented by the General Psychology Section of the German Psychological Society.
