Prof. Bitsch reappointed to the Commission for the Future of Agriculture

The Commission for the Future of Agriculture, originally convened by the then German chancellor, Dr. Angela Merkel, in 2020, submitted unanimously agreed upon recommendations for a sustainable and future-oriented agriculture and food system in Germany on June 29, 2021. In the wake of the German elections in September, the new government, specifically the Federal Minister of Agriculture, Cem Özdemir, invited members of the commission to an exchange of ideas in December 2021. In July 2022, Minister Özdemir reappointed the commission to continue its work and accompany the process of putting its recommendations into practice. The inaugural meeting of the reconfigured commission took place on September 27, in Berlin, and included an extensive exchange with the Minister.
