Stefan Mair is an external doctoral candidate at the Chair of Economics of Horticulture and Landscaping. His particular interest in the field of business management led to the topic of his ongoing dissertation: "Decision-making processes in the business management of horticultural enterprises". During the course of his research, the issue of driving factors for successful family business successions showed to be of particular relevance.

Prior to his doctoral research, he was self-employment of several years and he was in a managerial position in private owned Garden Centres. All those occupations are based on the degree in Horticultural Sciences, acquired at the Technical University of Munich. Experience abroad was gained during a three months internship at the Los Angeles State & County Arboretum, USA.
